Biography

Pianist, piano tuner, and teacher

Marco Silvi was born in Rome and began his professional musical studies in Madrid in 2004. He graduated in jazz piano in 2013 from the “Licinio Refice” Conservatory in Frosinone and, in June 2016, obtained a teaching qualification in Music Learning Theory according to Edwin E. Gordon, becoming an associate teacher at the Audiation Institute. In 2022, he completed the three-year course in Piano Tuning and Technology at the “Santa Cecilia” Conservatory in Rome. Since 2016, he has studied under Francesca Romano, founder of PsychoBioResonance. He masters extended vocal techniques and has studied with maestros Mauro Tiberi and Tran Quang Hai.

He regularly participates in advanced jazz workshops such as InJazz Fabriano, Jazz in Laurino, Labro InJazz, and Siena Jazz Summer, studying with renowned artists including Franco D’Andrea, Danilo Rea, Barry Harris, John Taylor, and Kenny Werner. Since 2012, Marco has been a member of the New Talents Jazz Orchestra, the official big band of the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, directed by Maestro Mario Corvini. His concert performances have taken him to prestigious venues such as the Casa del Jazz in Rome, Auditorium Parco della Musica, Villa La Mortella (Ischia), Teatro Nuovo in Milan, and the “Jazz & Wine” Festival in Montalcino.

With the New Talents Jazz Orchestra, Marco performs at prestigious venues such as the Macro in Testaccio, the necropolis of Cerveteri and Tarquinia, and the Teatro Palladium in Rome. The Orchestra recorded “Omaggio a Duke Ellington” for JazzIt Records in 2015 and “Extempora” for Parco della Musica Records in 2016. He collaborates with Argentine guitarist Emmanuel Losio in the jazz duo project “Two For The Road,” recording the album “Sentieri” in 2015. The album receives excellent reviews from Marcello Rosa and Greg Burk and reaches 86th place in the Top 200 Release Jazz Charts in Hong Kong.

Since 2015, Marco has been collaborating with Laura Lala and Marcello Allulli in the “Trio Siciliano” project, performing original compositions in Sicilian dialect with a jazz twist, with concerts at Italian Cultural Institutes abroad. Since 2014, he has worked with Piera D’Isanto in the project “The Sound Pills,” which presents original arrangements using electronics and a loop station. In 2019, the duo produced TiEsseO’, sponsored by IUC. The Sound Pills also created a lesson-concert format for the Libraries of Rome, “Le Biblio-Pillole Sonore.”

In October 2021, he participated in the piano marathon of Erik Satie’s Vexations at the MACRO Museum in Rome.
With the FluDuo ensemble, alongside classical singer Alice Muzzioli, he explores sounds that balance between ancient and modern, combining sheet music, improvisation, and prepared piano. In 2024, they release the album Nexus under the Alfa Music Records label.
Since 2021, he has collaborated with organist and pianist Giulio Tosti on the Tabula Plena project, a duo featuring prepared piano and improvisation.
In 2022, he joined the XYZ Ensemble, a collective dedicated to conduction and free improvisation, led by Alessandro Sbordoni. In 2024, the album Conductions – Live at Nuova Consonanza Festival was released by Da Vinci Classics.
Marco has had numerous collaborations with artists such as Mario Corvini, Stefano Di Battista, Enrico Pieranunzi, and Fabrizio Bosso.
